I'm tinkering with a whitetail bullet and loading data. I'm using a 140 gr. hornady sp bullet. I would like to try a nosler ballistic tip bullet but I may be limited to a 120 gr. bullet. The rifle is a win. XTR sporter. Would the 120 gr. be efficient and what powder is a good choice?

My personal feeling is that the 120 Ballistic Tip is a bit fragile for the speeds attainable with the 264 Win Mag. However, your results may be different, depending on how fast you chase it. My 264 will launch that 120 at over 3450, and it is like a bomb on wet paper targets, always ending up separated. If you want a lighter bullet for the 264, I would recommend that you use the 125 Partition,[ my favorite ] or one of the TSX Barnes, possibly the 130 grain. Chamberings that are capable of the velocities that the 264 will deliver require a stouter bullet. The bullet I use the most in my 264 is the 140 Partition. Excellent BC, SD, and very accurate in my rifle. I understand that Nosler is going to release an AccuBond in a weight less than 140 grain. This would also be an excellent choice. Regards, Eagleye.

125 gr NP at 3350 fps with reloader 25! Shoots .5" at 100 all day long. This buck took one at 501 yds in Oct 2004.

Sounds interesting. Can you elaborate reloader 25 info? How many grains of powder? I have no loading data in my Reloader manual for that bullet with RL 25.

Welcome to the Nosler forum.
The 125 gr PT or the 130 gr AB would be the way to go in your
264 Win Mag.
