.264 WM madness part deux! and a ?

This is crackin me up !
Scotty - Get-er Done
As nice and calm as it is today - wish I had the .260 with me for this evevings hunt

I once had someone tell me
* you can't put a price on a good time*

Mark, you can't start in on me too! Man, I am trying to be happy right now with the bucks in Rut and me with my bow in my hands. You guys are possibly the worst influence for a gun nut there ever was.

On another note, I saw a 3x9-40mm Zeiss Conquest on sale for 250.00 today. Almost snagged it for the 25-06, but I think I will stay with Leupold. It did look nice, but almost all of them do in the store. Scotty

What? You didn't get the Conquest? That was a terrific price. Man, passing up on the 264 and now on the Zeiss. This will come back to haunt you. (Anybody else want to pile on?)

I am sure it will, but I seem to flock to Leupolds more! Change scares me Doc, I try to stick with what I know. I have tried a few other scopes and they just didn't pan out as well as I would have liked. I may go back and look at it again tomorrow. I didn't want to impulse by it, I do that enough! Scotty

maybe the 264 needs its own forum group and only awesome people who own 264 win mags or want to be awesome by owning a 264 would be allowed to post.

It is getting tougher! All I need is one good TDY/TAD trip and I will have enough squirreled away for that M700 CDL 264. I imagine after the first of the year, if there are any still around, I will grab one. You know, just in case. Scotty

Scotty,

Nothing wrong with a pair and a spare.

You are right about that Jim! I don't actually need anymore coaxing to do this, my inner demons are screaming out loud right now! Scotty

I love spending on guns! Mine or others'.

Me too most of the time! You all are the driving force behind the 25-06! I would have lived a long time and never missed out on the .257 cal if it wasn't for you all preaching how cool they were! I am usually the pusher into buying rifles. Man, the tables turn fast around here! Scotty

I know what you mean about change, but then I also bought two 3-9 Conquests last time I was home, and I'm thinking about picking up another one next weekend.

You guys really ARE a bad influence! I keep telling myself I'm going to quit buying guns until I get everything scoped and a new safe, and then I buy a new gun. I suck!

Yes we are!!!

Yeah, and you're the worst... I find myself searching online for Marlin Cowboys in .45-70 and .38-55!

BK, if you don't have a 45-70, drop what you are doing and get one!! Every man should own one! They are some FUN rifles. I kinda think it is more fun to shoot than some of my bolt guns. Just something fun about hunking 400gr's of lead downrange into little bitty groups!

I saw a grizzly bowhunt this morning on ESPN. The guide was using an 1895GS for a back up rifle! I was pretty stoked to see that. Pretty cool to see someone toting a Marlin for dangerous game. I can't imagine much slowing down a 400+gr Hardcast or 300gr PT or 350gr Swift! It would be nice for close range killing! Scotty

The most fun I ever had was a day at the range with the 45-70! We were lobbing 144 gr 45 cal balls at 200 yard clay dirt balls/mounds ignited ny 12 gr of Unique. Kicked like a 22 mag. Also same load with 300 gr Oregon trail casts. Man that was fun.

I still need to mess with some reduced loads. It would be fun for my son to shoot them. I haven't ever messed with them, but I will eventually. I love that rifle. Just field stripped it and wiped it down, don't plan on cleaning the barrel out until after the Fall. Scotty

Let me know. If you have Lyman #47 edition you're set.

I have the Lyman 49th Edition. I will have to browse through it. I imagine Trapdoor loads with light bullets may be pleasant enough. Scotty

Absolutely. The 47 ed. shows reduced data (pistol/shotgun) powders for just about all the loadings.
