Isn't Gerry using some surprisingly heavy 270 bullets for his British Columbia hunting?

I believe he is a big user of the 150 BT and 160 Partitions.

With today’s powders, the 150’s at 3000+ are pretty slippery and really do a bunch of work.

That is correct, 150 BT and 160 gr Partition with IMR 7977. Taken several deer with the 150 gr Ballistic Tip and 3 bears now with the 160 gr Partition. Very happy with both of those bullets.

60 gr of IMR 7977 for both the 160 gr PT and 150 gr BT for 2817 fps with the 160's and a bit over 2900 fps with the 150's.

Nothing wrong with a 270. Pretty versatile with the right bullets. My dad used his browning BAR for 20 years on antelope, deer and elk without any issues. I'd rather have a 270 than a 3006 personally. But I love me some 7mm, so that's why I have a 280 now for a backup to the 7-300 win mag. I had the best luck with RL22 and 140-150s out of the 270 I owned a few years back. 1/2 MOA at 2900-3000fps.

Got a tad over 2900fps with R26 (60gr) and Nosler 160PT in my last Model 700 classic ( 22" barrel) I now have a Kimber 84L with 24" barrel I'm having gone over by my smith. If it shoots as well as it feels in my hands, lookout! :)

That’s moving right along. Will be interesting if the extra 2” will push it over 3000 FPS.
