Just got a custom 270 Weatherby and was wondering if anyone has used the 130 E-tip in it and how well it worked?

I've used them. Go with IMR7828, RL22, Accurate MagPro, H4831, or powders in that burn rate range. I've had best results with slower powders. I personally like IMR7828ssc, but that's just me. Also, load them up about .030-.100" shorter than what you're used to loading for the 270Wby. If you have no basis for comparison, just start by seating about .030" or so shorter than the listed COL. Play around with it, as I've had best results seating pretty short. Accuracy has been good when I found the sweet spot - well under .75" three shot groups at 100yds.

Please post your results as well.

Please post your results...I'd like to see the load development. You have an incredible cartridge.

I just loaded up 70 E-Tips for my 270 WSM. They shoot quite well. I'm using RL17, which seems to give me good velocity, but the groups are very good. It should work quite well for game.

Well I ended up using imr7828 with fed 215 primers and norma brass. I set the col to .030 shorter then normal and this seemed to be the sweet spot with groups right around a half inch. Now to take it out elk hunting and see how they perform on game. Thanks to all for the imfo.

Glad to hear things worked out well for you. Post your hunting results, too, as we'd all like more info on how these bullets perform in the field.

What was your final COL? I'd like to compare it to mine.

I don't have my book handy but it was .030 shorter then what is called for in Nosler manual #6
