Going to start a new load for my marlin xl7 270 win 22" barrel, 140 gr AB using RL-22. What would be a good starting point and max load? Anyone with some good loads?

CAhunter has convince me to use the 140 gr AB.

not sure about the rl22, but I am having great results with H4831 and the 140.

Bullet works great by the way.

Good luck with the work up.

The 140 gr AB is a great bullet in the 270 WSM.
RL 22, IMR 7828, Magnum and MagPro would all be good powders.

Rl-19, Rl-22 and H4831 were my favorites for the 270win.
The 140 Ab/Bt was riding on top.

I guess CAhunter pointed me in the right direction. I'll have to dig up a starting point with RL-22 and work up. I'm guessing around 57.5-60grs max.

You are in the right ball park. I'd start lower if you were using a thick brass like Remington or Nosler. Listen to your gun and you should find a nice load. If not, try H4831sc.

I have a mossberg 100 atr in the 270 win and I use 140 grain hornady interlock with 60 grains of IMR 7828 and CCI BR-2 primer which gives me a MV of 2962 at 15 feet.

I use 7828 SSC with 140 AB's in my 700 BDL 270 win with all holes touching at 100 yds. 60 gr powder, cci-200 primers, 2940 fps. This load shoots so well that I never pursued any other load.

Here is some pics of reloader 22. I need to re-shoot the 58.4 gr with five shots to confirm.

This target is RL-17 52 gr / Rl-17 53 gr / and 58gr H4831.

I shot all these at 100 meters. All were set at max magazine length 2.819" with hornady comparator or 3.361" col.

Looks to be a good load. Reshoot a couple of 3 shot groups and let us know your results.

Well it looks like RL-22 is the ticket. Very consistent. Thanks CAhunter for pointing out the 140 gr Accubonds, now we need to go do some chrony testing and long range shooting.

Surprise.... it was a little windy (head wind).

Had problems with the RL-17 loads. I think I had some bad primers or the sizing lube (hornady one shot) got them wet.

Do know what happen?

Looks like you got some primer gas leakage there.

It looks like you could use H4831 or RL22 and have some great shooting loads! A few of those groups are pretty awesome. Good shooting. Scotty
