I picking some 130 e-tips up, thinking deer and elk, will I have enough speed to open them up at long range, anyone have field experience, I know the Dr has with his wsm. I have Magpro, r17,r19, hunter to load with. A QL would be great and some field experience, just worried about them opening 400-500 yards out. Thanks all

I haven't shot the E-Tip in the 270 Win, but I should imagine that you will have more than enough velocity to open properly.

At 400 yards you will have a velocity of ~2300 fps. At 500 yards, you will still have a velocity of ~2120 fps.

If you go over to ramshot powders and check their data the have the etip along w/a great mix ofother bullets. In general their data says they hit Max pressure w/the tip about 1.5-2 grains under other 130 bullets....also about 100 fps slower. If it were me working up I'd probably be subbing 140 data.
Now...on the good side..usually etips have a really good BC....so it likely could make up for a slightly slower mv when down range.
I really like looking over ramshots data just too get an idea how "sticky" many of the new bullets might be...even if not using their exact powder.
