270 Win w/155 LRX QL

[EOD Diver]

Guys,
I finally found a friend here in Germany that is able to handload and buy powder/primers. We’ve got to be lead free to hunt on Federal land here and my 9 twist barrel might be a bit quick for the 130 monos so I stumbled upon Barnes’ new 155 LRX and am hoping to give it a go.

Can I ask you for a powder run for the 155 Barnes LRX, 24” bbl, at 64K in 270 Win?

I don’t know if the 9 will spin them Joe. Worth a shot but they are marginal on the Berger calc.

I’d use 150 data and work up as you would normally with 26 or H4831 or whatever good 270 powder you have.

Those 155’s are long devils.

I think I can pull it off if I’m above 2000’. That puts me at an SG of 1.3 on the Bison calculator. But things sure change when I get up to the 8000’ of altitude our hometown is at and it’s really easy to over spin stuff it seems. They say above an SG of 1.7 and it will decrease your accuracy. Man, if you run the calcs at 8000’ just about everything gets over spun. Life was more fun when we didn’t have these things and ignorance was bliss!
