Hi, i'm shooting a sako 85 in 270 WSM. I don't reload but shoot factory ammo. I plan to hunt Deer and Moose with this calibur :) ..so far i have tried 150 gr nosler Partition's and grouping less than 1" at 100yds.
Should I try out the accubonds, and e-tips or stick with the noslers?
Thanks for any input....BigBear

Welcome to the forum. Glad you found us.

The 150 gr PT is tough to beat for both deer and moose.

I agree with JD, if you are currently happy with the 150PT, why change? It will have you covered for deer, elk, and moose.

Perfecto! 8)

The 150 grain Partition will be an excellent all-round bullet in your 270 WSM. Sounds as if you found a great load for your rifle.

Thanks, you guys are great!..When i had my 338 win-mag all i used for deer, bear and moose was the 210 gr Partition, and the performance was just awsome. Lot's of premium loads out there, but the Sako handels the N-Partition very well, that's what im gonna stick with....Thanks again guys!

I used this load last November in northern Quebec, both Caribou were taken at about 200 yds, never did recover the bullet...BigBear

They are both great bullets. I'd try the accubonds just to see what shot better in my gun. It's a Sako. It might really shoot those AB's. 1/2" wouldn't be out of the question.

I'll be going to the club in a week or so, i'll try the AB's out and see how my Sako handles them.As for the NP's they are grouping 3/4" at 100 yds, not bad for factory ammo  ...Thanks....BB

Retumbo and 140gr Accubonds out of my two Tikka T3 LS 270WSM rifles are my loads with Federal 215 primers. Getting 0.3" groupings at 100 metres and drops all big game here in Alberta. This caliber and bullet combo sure has impressed me.

H1000, 7828SSC or Winchester Supreme 780 powders are other good choices. The WS780 powder is what is used in the Winchester Supreme ammuntion for the 270WSM and other calibers.

For factory ammo, the Winchetser Supreme Accubonds (140gr) or the 130/150gr XP3's get my vote. Next would be the Federal 140gr Accubonds or TTSX's

I used the 270WSM Winchester 140gr Accubonds for elk and deer. They worked very well for a 270 WSM on large game. I "think" a Partition is a better choice for large moose/deer critters. I like the Abond alot, as it is really accurate, but the Partition just seems like it is a very hard bullet to top that really large game. Plus, if you are shooting 3/4" groups with factory ammo, it would be hard to change. Plus, you are probably getting over 3150fps with that bullet. It is a hammer. The 270WSM is truly an awesome little magnum and it seems to be very accurate out of most rifles I have seen or heard about. Scotty

Thanks, Scotty and the rest of the guys. I have a Moose hunt booked for this fall in northern Ontario, Deer season is also open during the Moose hunt 8) ...Im sure the AB's would be great, but it looks like the Partitions well be making the trip with me  ....Lou

The good part is you cannot go wrong with either one! They are both pretty exceptional bullets and really make the 270WSM shine. The 270WSM is a favorite of mine, and it is the 30-06 of my gun cabinet. Scotty

Took these shots at 200 yds today from a bench and sand bags, these targets were taped behind a much bigger target. Boy the Partition group realy openend up compared to the accubonds  ...we'll i guess the AB is gonna be my hunting bullet for sure. Thanks again guys..Lou

Nice shooting.
Try seating the bullet in .005" and reshoot.

That is a great looking group. I can't see much walking away from that. Even the Partitions are decent for hunting accuracy out to 400 or so. It is amazing to see what the groups do at 200, compared to 100. It is almost easier to see if you and your loads are accurate shooting at 200 vs 100. Scotty

3 shot groups on hunting guns. If you want more then 2 three shot groups from a cold barrel.

Thanks guys  ..I fired 3 shots, and let the barrel cool down, and then fired another 3. I realy like the Partition's, but the AB's are much more accurate out of my rifle, im sure Mr Moose has met his match  ..you guys are great, as well as this forum..
Regards..Lou

You'll like the accubonds, I'll promise you that. Its all I shoot in my 7mm AM. out of 17 deer only had 1 not exit and it wasn't the bullets fault. a couple 160 AccuBond exits
532 yards
100_0279.jpg

702 yards
lastday08004.jpg

and even at a MV of 1650 fps, this AccuBond expanded and exited
