I am going to be using my 270 WSM for a deer hunting rifle and back up elk rifle, i am planning on using 140 grn AccuBond, but if there is another bullet i should try please let me know, and as far as powders go i would like to here what other people use for there loads with that bullet, i have RL19, RL17, IMR4350, and Magpro. Thanks

Sounds to me like you got everything you need. Working on a load with the same bullet as well.

I was kind of thinking that way, if you dont mind me asking what powders are you going to try and how many grains for the max.

Jake will square you away with the 140's in your rig, but I have been working with the 150's in mine. It is very quick and accurate with RL22. I run just a tick over 3100 with the 150 PT, PT Gold and BT. Plus, they all shoot really well for me. Maybe not 1/4" groups, but pretty consistently under an inch. Again, you have some great powders that will work well for your 140's, but don't forget about the 150's either. That 150 PT should be excellent for elk and I will try them in the future.

I would for sure try Magpro as well. I had EXCELLENT results running Magpro with the 130's. It is plenty slow enough to do excellent with the 140's and 150's as well.

I gotta say they were very easy to load for as well. I run them all at 2.860" COAL and they seem to work just fine. I haven't yet had to mess with seating depth on any of them. They just weren't fussy. I love the 270WSM as it is my rifle that always shoots pretty well for me. It hits pretty hard and shoots flat. It doesn't leave much on the table and recoil is pretty mild as well. Good luck, post up your targets when you start. I think you will be really impressed once you start though..

Those 150s will deliver the goods for you, Scotty. I have to believe the PTs at the velocities you're generating will be adequate for about anything you encounter in NA.

I would start out with the Nosler No. 6 book. I have tried a lot of different powders in the 270 WSM with the 140 AB. RL-22, RL-25, Retumbo, 7828, IMR 4350, and H4350. 58.5gr. of IMR 4350 shot the 140 AB REALLY well (.473"@ 300 yrds was the best group) in my first one, but was slower than I would of liked (3050fps). I honestly got frustrated and gave up to early on my second 270 WSM. I really wish I had that one back, it was a B&C eddition Remington 700 with a fluted 26" barrel. Really sharp looking rifle. My current 270 WSM is a M70 with a 25" Pac Nor barrel. I have one load that shoots fairly well with Retumbo doing 3135. Groups very from .07" to .75", I think I can get it to be a bit more consistant with some newer brass. RL-22, and RL-25 have both showed some real promise.

A lot of guys are having good luck with the slower powders in the 140 AB, and others seem to like the 4350 RL-19 range. If your not a velocity stickler, let your gun tell you what it likes and life will be a lot easyier. I'm slowly coming to the realization that if my rifle doesn't want to do what I want it to, I'm not going to be able to force it to. Not a huge difference between 3135, and 3200 (that was my goal fps) in the field anyways.

I had been having a hard time getting the 130 Bt to shoot and Dr. Mike suggested I try RL-19 and H4350. RL-19 didn't work out so well, and I'll be reloading some more with H4350 as they shot pretty dang well.

Good luck! Keep us posted.

Jake, give Magpro a try with the 130 BT's. I got some incredible speeds in mine with it using the Nosler #6 data..

Great info though. Nothing really going to know the difference from 3135 to 3200. I do know what you mean though, sometimes you just want the extra.
