Cool stutzen very similar to mine, but a year or two earlier. Your Mod. M looks like it's the 'Luxus' model. The difference between your & my rifle is in the magazine type, bolt & safety. Superb rifles. Really great slick bolts on the Mannlicher rifles. Hold the trigger & tip the rifle downward & the bolt slides straight into battery. QD mounts are great & zero perfectly each time they're removed/replaced. I load 6.5x55SE for friends who also use the Hornady 123gn SST bullet. (43gns) Viht. N550 works great with the bullet. For the heavier 140gn bullet, Viht. N560 works well.

I do prefer the 140 gr bullets in my Swedes, so will be loading the AccuBonds and Partitions to see what the rifle prefers, but also have some 130 rg Terminal Ascent bullets to try too (they are performing very well in both of my 6.5 CM's). I also have some Lapua 155 gr Mega's on hand, so may try them in this rifle as well. Should be great penetrators!
For factory ammo, I have always had good on-game performance from Winchester Power Points, so will also see how that 140 gr amm performs in this rifle. For short range work in the timber, this would would work great on deer and moose.

My other LH Model M FS is in 270 Win and is not the Special Edition, and while it has plainer wood, it is still of good grain. It does not have the QD mounts. It shoots the Federal 136 gr Terminal Ascent ammo into 0.678" groups at 100 yards, at 2792 fps *just over 200 fps less than factory specs in a 24" barrel). But for a stalking rifle, it will work just fine on game at the distances I will be hunting with this rifle. (Yet to hunt with this rifle.)

Yes!
While I was busy with competing in archery, I did not let my interest in acquiring various firearms chambered to cartridges of interest to me go idle! And for a couple of these rifles, the opportunity to acquire the rarer ones (LH full stocked Steyrs) presented themselves at times when I could afford to take advantage of those opportunities.
I am getting back to shooting more again and am having fun with it...now to get back to handloading more again for these rifles, and get out hunting with these newer acquisitions! While I planned to hunt a couple of these this year, I did not get as much range time as I hoped to ensure they were ready to hunt, and took other rifles instead. I did manage to break in my new to me LH Browning X Bolt All Weather in 270 WSM on a caribou! (So one got busy!)

Like many here, work and other items at home has put more on my plate over the past 5-10 years and my time afield has suffered some, and I am glad to say that I am gaining ground in this area. Although the past year and a half, I have chosen to use my time for leave for some of those bucket list trips such as rifle hunts in New Zealand, Africa, and a father/daughter archery trip to Colorado! (And was able to finally afford these hunts!)
As in all things, trying to maintain a balance is a challenge!
