Hi fellas, took the .270wsm and 150gr nosler partitions to the range today to season the new rifle..i used the (nosler method to season the unfired barrel)..fired many shots @ 50yds with the 130gr bullets, and then tryed the 150gr nosler Partition @ 100yds, two 3 shot groups from a cold barrel..note, my 1st shot was a fouler shot...for a new rifle, it did ok for today...still need some more sessions at the range to season the trigger and barrel on the sako 85...Lou

Lou, I think you are in great shape buddy. I can't see you being disapointed about that at all. If they are shooting that well for you right now, they are only ever going to get better as it breaks in. Great shooting buddy. That Sako is a shooter..

As the barrel gets a few more rounds down it, the groups should tighten quite a bit. You look to be in good shape. Moose steaks will be in your freezer come fall.

I'm not sure I believe in breaking in a barrel, but you guys who use premium bullets to do it are either to be commended for your commitment, have much more money than I, or are nuts. I can't decide which.

Nonetheless, that's fine shooting!

Thanks, All you guys here are just awsome!!!..it was very, very cold today and wasn't conserned about accuracy at this point, but just wanted to sight in, and season that barrel..this might be a better pic...keep in mind this is federal premium factory ammo, loaded with the 150gr Partition..also had some what of a hard time shooting with gloves on  ..Lou

I would say your done Lou, move your POI up a few inches and never worry again! I would think a 300 yard zero would be just about right on with your B&C reticle..

Lou,

Nicely done. You are there with the 150 gr PT. Move your zero up a couple inches and go fill the freezer.

Looks like you got a keeper. Good to know those Partitions and your new tube get along so well too. Don't see you needing anything other than that.

I can see where those gloves screwed up yer shootin...
