270Win and 150ABLR = AWESOME

Awesome is right now you just need to load about 500 up and never touch her again. I imagine that was really gratifiying!

Pat, congratulations on a fine session at the range. That is very impressive and if I can get that kind of production out of my CDL it will not be leaving when I get my 280AI home.
I will be making a number of trips to the range over the next couple of weeks with both my CDL & my son's BDL.
I will be keeping everyone informed.

Blessings,
Dan

Holy Cow!
Nice shooting Pat! It looks like you're set. I just returned from a trip up to Canada and was excited to see all the development with the ABLRs. Thanks for sharing your results, and I hope you'll keep the good news and information coming. Your post answered a lot of the questions I've been kicking around with the new 150 ABLR. Based on your results, I think I'll start my load development using a magnum primer. I wish that I had Federals, but I was lucky enough to score a bunch of WLRMs when I got home. It seems Federal GMM 215s and Reloader 22 are as common as unicorns now days. Sometimes you've just got to run what you've got and what I lack in RL 22, I make up for in a solid supply of 7828ssc. My old pre-64 270 Win really likes 7828ssc with the 140 AB, but it's not quite as fast as I had hoped. Anyway, thanks again for sharing happy hunting with that load!

Joe, after today's shooting, my 270 really perked when I backed them up about .060" off the rifling. I'll post up the results later but it came together like I knew this rifle was capable of. I was thinking they'd shoot better up close but my WSM didn't say so.

Outstanding! What an incredible group! Did you stick with the 3.375 or basically 0.005 short of max mag length?

Should I consider trying Fed mag primers in my .270 Win? Do they work well with RL 22 or H4831sc or is it only in powder like the 7828ssc that it shows potential? I typically load Win large rifle primers. I have also used CCI but am open to suggestions as I prepare to load these LR's.

Far as I can tell, FED 215 Mag Match primers work for every slow powder from 4350 to RL25 and 7828.

I loaded some up today but wont be able to shoot them for a week or so. Has anyone shot them into milk jugs, phone books etc to see how they hold up? So far it looks like they shoot incredibly well.

Scotty,
Thanks for the heads up. I'll jump 'em a little further out than the usual .030" starting point. Nice work with that WSM of yours.

OT3,
Thanks for the advice on a hotter primer for the slower burning stuff. Looks like it also helps with velocity SDs too.
