Hi , everyone I am new to the forum and have a quick question. Does anyone have any info. on when there will be some more 280 ai brass in stock. I am having trouble finding any.
Thanks
Andy

Andy,

Welcome aboard. I believe you may have to explore some of the on-line retailers to find the brass you're looking for. I note that several of the major suppliers in the States are showing "out of stock," however (Midsouth, Sinclair, Midway, Graf & Sons, etc.). You might try to Email Nosler directly.

Is fire forming 280 Rem brass an option for you?

Thanks for the help so far guys. As far as fire forming goes I've never done it before but It may be something I could do. Is it ok to just fire factory in the 280 AI chamber?

Absolutely! That is the fastest way to get it done.

That would work just fine for you, Andy. Good luck. There will be more brass in time. In the interim, you can use factory ammunition to form brass to your chamber.

Thanks JD338. Looking at a Cooper in this cal, so that clears up some of my questions about brass ava.

The nice part about the AI is that you can shoot the parent cartridge factory ammo.

When you load 280 Rem ammo to fire form, you will want to use a 280 Rem MAX load, which is a starting load in the 280 AI. Also, there should be a slight crush fit when you chamber a 280 Rem in a 280 AI chamber. Because of this, you do not need to seat bullets into the lands.

My 280 AI has a 24" barrel. I can get the 160 gr AB over 3000 fps and the 140 gr AB up to 3250 fps. Accuracy with RL 22 is well under .5 MOA.

Good luck with the Cooper and let us know what we can do to assist you.
