Sunday morning I finally found a load for this bullet. I got a 5 shot group in the .3's with ES of 7fps.

That evening I loaded 6 more rounds, put my data in Ballistics AE and set up on the 375 yard steel plate.

Shot once, took 2 clicks of elevation out and then shot 2 with each touching the 1-3/4" paint dot at 375 yards.

I was pleased so I let my 16 year old son get behind the rifle, shooting prone he made this 3 shot group that measured .85"

He promptly asked me to load 50 just like that and leave them on his dresser :)

This would be a great chance for your son to load some for himself. It would be a great learning opportunity. He definitely put the shots where they needed to be.

He loaded some tonight with oversight.

Good job! I always enjoy hearing that young men and women are getting hands on experience rolling their own.

That sounds like a great running load. Nothing much it won't handle with authority.

Very nice. Thanks for sharing the load. What rifle was this shot with?

Trued Rem 700
Bartlien 2B Med Sporter barrel @ 24"
Timney @ 3#
H S stock bedded
Leupold 4.5-14 with Kenton turrets.

It's certainly no target rifle, purely built for hunting

Hi bboswell, Looks like it could be a target rifle to me. Looking in the Nosler book your load looks to be below minium and your velocity above the max load. What's up? Typo?

Thanks,

Crap! Both

Actual load is 59.7 g of N-165.

And if you see my other thread, at least for me Nosler data is off for this combo. The Nosler minimum load is near the same as the max load for my other 2 sources for this round yet my velocities are in line with the others.

I was so confused by this that I borrowed another chrono to compare mine to. They were very close.

Sorry for the typo above, I have corrected it to avoid further confusion.

That's pretty darn impressive! Thanks for posting. Have you put a pic of the rifle up for us??

Not the best pic but this is my son shooting the same target last year with factory Nosler 140 AB. Best factory Ammo I have ever shot by the way!

That looks like an awesome. Cool to see the boy having some fun with it as well. I like seeing those young folks laid out behind a long gun.
