I did specify the SAAMI version of 280ai for use with Nosler brass.

Now I just need to find a box to send them my barreled action :?

The rest of the rifle has a Bell & Carlson stock, Timney trigger. VX3 3.5x10 40mm CDS (just keeping the MOA dial). 270 win barrel is coming off.

I have 250 pcs of Nosler brass, 400 168 grn Berger VLD Hunting, 100 Barns 168 grn LRX, and 100 Nos 150 grn ABLR. For powders to test, H4831sc, IMR7828ssc, RL22, RL26. I have Redding competition seating die, and a Redding full length sizer.

It's going to take a couple months at least, but I'm super excited! Hoping to have it all dialed in for the 2016 Oregon elk season.

If you have an AR case, barreled actions fit in that fine.
Good call on Pac-Nor. They do good work.

I have a PacNor barrel on my RMR in the 35 Whelen they are a top notch barrel. The specs are 24" SS match barrel with a 1-14 twist and it will give me .5 MOA or better all day as long as I do my part .
I will check the specs on my 280AI & post if you are interested (y)?

Blessings,
Dan

It's done!!!!!!!! I got the shipment notification, should be here Thursday
That was fast!

Great cartridge the 280 AI - Built one like that years ago with a 24 " SS Shilen - Buddy owns it now and has shot a lot of game with it ! Looking forward to your results . RJ

It turned out AWESOME!

I sized up the #3 barrel to my B&C stock, and it's quite a bit more substantial then the factory 270win barrel. I have quite a bit of sanding to do.

…first world problems  I'm supper excited.

Ahhh, they even put a small bottle of Witches Brew copper solvent in my return package. (y)

Great news! What bullet are you going to run in your 280AI?

I'm planning on 168 Berger VLD Hunting. I also have a box of the 150grn ABLR, and two boxes (50ea) of Barns 168 grn LRX.

The Bergers are my goal though. And I somehow ended up with a bunch of RL 26, so that's the powder I'm hoping will work out.

RL22 has been my go to powder in my 280AI for 140, 150 and 160 gr bullet weights.
I tried the 168 gr ABLR with RL22 and was disappointed with the speed and accuracy.
After several attempts, I hit pay dirt with 59.5 grs IMR7828SSC. MV 2848, ES 66, SD 27 .056"c/c.

very nice! I do also have some 7828ssc. If things aren't working out with the RL26 I'll give that a try.
