Okay all. 284 Winchester? I like the 7mm's, and running one on a 700 long action throated for long, heavy bullets sounds pretty nice...
168 ABLR for hunting, and the long Bergers for targets. ...

I built my .284 on a Winchester LA. It is coming along quite well in load development.

The .284 is the second from the right in this photo. From the right, the chamberings are--7X57 Mauser, .284 Winchester, .30-06 Springfield, .280 Remington, .280 Ross, .338 Lapua.

That looks very svelte Mike...A 284 on a Wicnhester LA with CDI bottom metal sounds very interesting. ..

What will it give me alongside my 7mm08?

The 284 Win is a pretty cool round. A M70 LA build would be pretty nice.

The .284 will give you 2800-2850 with a 180 vld and a 26" barrel, the velocity doesnt look to impressive until you run the numbers with the high bc berger. I own a .284 and have won matches with it, one of the better do it all rounds in my opinion.

I got my 284 on long action and I'm about same OAL as the 6.5x284 Norma @ 3.250"

Haven't shot any of the Nosler yet but been shooting Berger hunting 168gr/180gr VLD still working on loads and I'm little more interest in hunting than target shooting so trying to find for that. I've got pretty good load with 160gr AB hunted with that for few years.

I haven't shot the Nosler yet but when it's all said and done if I make a change it's going to be for the 168gr bullets. I've got the barrel to push the 180gr 27 1/4" long and I can get the 168gr 3000fps app and that's good enough. No question that the 284 and 180gr VLD are great target combination as well as the 168gr VLD.

Well good luck and you'll have fun with 284.

That performance is on par with the 280 AI and nipping on the heals of the 7mm WSM and 7mm Rem Mag.
Good show.

Very awesome bunch of rifles Mike. Seems like the 7mm's rule the roost around your safe!

Seems like a 284 on a LA would have alot going for it. Plus, you can score some great cases to work with.

Well, there are a few 7mm cartridges that I haven't acquired ... yet.

I had 280AI build same time as the 284 been shooting some Berger 180gr VLD haven't found any ABLR 175gr. I'm kind of playing around with both rifles good winter project. Soon as I get something I like and weather get's so I can chronograph some loads I'll post them.
