Please tell me this, are you using H4350 for the powder charge in the 165 grain 30-06 trophy grade load? It shoots really well and would love to know the powder so I can continue to print these tight groups with my old Model 70 Winchester.

elkslayer,

The question has been asked before. You might want to check out this thread. http://noslerreloading.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=11092

On that thread, JD338 likely gave the best answer you will get.

Nosler won't tell you what they use but you can bet its most likely the most accurate powder that is highlighted in their Reloading Guide.

As an aid to control cost, you might want to work up loads so that you can have practise time at the range, and keep a few boxes of the Nosler Trophy Grade Ammo reserved for hunting.

elkslayer308 go to the 30-06 Pet Loads post in the Reloading section by dubyam. He is asking about his 30-06 and wanting to load 165 gr. bullets in his rifle. There are many many responses from folks and a couple of the real favorite powders for the 30-06 is H4350 and IMR4350. It was also amazing how close and similar a lot of these loads are. There also were a couple of other powders listed several times such as IMR4064 and a couple others that also obviously work very well.

My load for two 30-06 rifles I have owned has been the same. IMR4350 57.4 grs. with a 165 gr. AccuBond or Partition bullet. Velocity in my Ruger #!B is 2940 fps. Curious if you have chronographed the Nosler Trophy ammo in your rifle to see what fps they are at.

IMR4350 or H4350- Try both and shoot what works best in your rifle. Good luck!

Just to add on to the already great information provided. I have also been loading 4895, my most favorite powder is 4064 for the 150/165 class bullet.
In order to reduce my powder inventory and enable me to keep a larger stock I will be working up some loads with 3031 for my Whelan and 06. as these are both low priority projects so it will be quite a while.

I just worked up a load for a friend's '06 using the 165AB, 58gn of H4350, GM210M, COL 3.360" and got a 3-shot group that is about the size of a penny.

IMR 4350 was always my go to powder for 30-06. Another good pick is RL 22.

Haven't used IMR 4350 in an 06, but it sure did work in my 375RUM for 260ABs.

IMR4350, H4350, IMR4064, IMR4320, MRP and RL-22 (MRP and RL-22 are not the same powder as some will say it is and my load work is proof that they do not take the same charge, nor get the same velocity using the same bullet, primer, brass and rifle, once again they are not the same). MRP will give more velocity than any powder you will try in a 30-06 and I have found accuracy to be good, and in my rifle, better than RL-22.
