Going to put together a load for a 30-06 and 150 accubonds. I’m think of trying imr 4350, h4350, big game and superformance for powders. Does anyone have any insight on any of these over the others? Bullet weight will be 150 accubonds as that’s what bullet was chosen to shoot. Thanks!

My 30-06 loves as much IMR4350 in the case as possible under a 150-grain bullet. I’ve read you can’t get enough IMR4350 in a 30-06 case to have pressure problems.

I’m short
59.5 grains IMR4350 CCI200 primer 150 grain bullet

I’ve also tried 60 grains H4350 with the same bullets, it likes that okay. Doesn’t shoot quite as well in my rifle

I've tried both of the 4350's and Big Game with 150's (not AccuBond's but E Tips) when I had an '06. I would be inclined to try Big Game first and then H 4350 after that and see what your gun likes. Hard to beat either of those powders if your gun likes them.

My rifle really liked IMR4350 with 165 gr. bullets so I did not search any further. I would think IMR4350 or H4350SC would be superb. Big Game would be one worth trying also as mentioned. I've used CCI 200 primers and Federal 210 Match primers. Both are great.

I've been a fan of IMR 4350 for nearly 50 years. Back then I was shooting a 30 '06 and IMR 4350 was my powder. Years later I started loading the Rem. 7mm mag. and the 300 Win. mag. I happened to have some IMR 4350 around I was using for some smaller cartridges so I tried it. I liked it so well it's all I use for those rounds now.
Sure, there are newer powders out there which may out perform IMR 4350 but they can't be that much better so I just stick with what I know works.
Also, all the talk about IMR 4350 lacking temp. stability are much overblown. I've used it from 100 degree plus days here at home to the minus degrees at high elevation. If there was a problem I would have found it.

IMR 4350 58 grains gets me 2950 fps at 6000 feet elevation and 1/2 " 3 shot groups with accubonds and Sierra target bullets of 150 grain. My Dad's old springfield 03 with a BalVar scope.

After moving to 2000 ft I get just over 2800 fps but still good groups.
(I don't recall the primers/ cases used, but I may be using different now and that may account for some of the velocity change. )

Most accurate combination so far. Next closest accuracy load is 220 Sierra RN and Reloder 19.
Reloder 19 does as well with 150 grain AB if I let the barrel cool between shots.

My go to powder in the 30-06 for 150-180 gr bullets was always IMR4350. Always got great accuracy.

Have not used the Accubonds (yet) but other 150 gr I use both IMR and H4350 as well as RL19 with very good groups. Have some Accubonds to try. Dan.

I settled on 59gr of IMR 4350/150gr bullet way back in '88. I did a lot of experimenting that summer with an old sporterized 1917 Enfield. It was a tack driving dude! I went to the CCI BR2 primer then also. In that rifle, it cut down on the slight vertical stringing I was getting. I used Remington cases, so you may end up half a grain on either side in other cases. You should get around 3000fps in a 22" barrel. You will also find that 58gr/165-168 to be a gee wiz recipe also! Good luck to you pard!

Well I was finally able to make it to the range today. Tested Superformance, H4350 and IMR 4350. Both 4350 were mediocre, but Superformance gave me two different loads that I would have no issues hunting with. I will have to chronograph them later and see which the final load will be.

Looks as if you have found a performer that will work. Great groups. Do you know your velocity?

I’m hoping for right at 3000fps. The Hodgon load data page shows 65grains gives 3072fps.

I tried Superformance once with the 30-06, I didn’t get nearly the groups you did! Nice!

That 64.0 gr load looks pretty good. Reshoot to verify and move it North 10 clicks and you are set to go.
Nice work!

Man that load is working in your rifle! Like the others I've had very good success with IMR 4350 in 06. My model 70 is a tack driver with it. What's nice about it is with more than one rifle I've found a real accurate mid range load, then it comes together again up at the top. In your case I wouldn't change a thing, but you don't need me to tell you that. Good shooting!

1/2 moa, can’t beat that cause everyone knows the 06 Is a poorly designed ineffective and inefficient inaccurate cartridge.
Well done

Snicker, snicker...

Love my 30-06! Antelope to big ol' bears. Does it all.

Excellent group! I am impressed, especially if its consistent. I don't mean it has to shoot that tiny at 100, but that it holds accuracy out at 200 or so. In this case, it sure looks like your rifle/load is a sub MOA shooter!
