Today we had a little break in the weather and I went to the range to try some loads.. My 180 Accubonds did not fly very well so I need to sort that out..
The puzzling thing is I fired a nice 0.68" 3 shot group @ 100 yds with the New Nosler cases, WLR primer, 56.0 gr of H4350 under Nosler 180gr Partitions. Placed a 200 yd target and fired 5 shots of the same load, 4 rounds grouped at about 1.84" with 2 shots touching. The overall group was 3.37".
The puzzlement is why is there 9.5" of additional drop between 100 and 200 yds? I expected maybe 7 or 8". Using JBM Ballistics I have tried to back into the velocity by changing muzzle velocity and it does not work.. I was down to 2,200 fps and is still was not close to 9.5" of drop. My last chronographing of this load was showing 2,600 + fps.
Any thoughts or suggestions will be most appreciated. Thanks in advance... Rol
