300 jazz

What's the advantage of that vs a 300 rum? The lapua barely fits in a rem 700 action where the rum is designed for it.

I'm sure the 300 Norma Ida great long range performer and would be great in lapua platform rifles. I just don't think its a good fit for winchester and remington actions

Couldn't tell you to be honest. That's Jeff's realm. I imagine he'll be along to fill us in.

The RUM case is 2.85" long and the .300 Norma case is 2.5". Using the RUM case you'd have to seat bullets really deep to fit through most magazines where as using the Norma you can seat them out where they need to be. They are both really close ballistically. The improved Norma's generally edge the RUM slightly. The Norma case has to be fed single stacked out of the magazine weather it's from a clip or a internal mag.

I can see where that would be an advantage with a detachable magazine.

I have a Wyatt extended mag box in both of my rums, gets you pretty close to 4" col.

The reason I did the jazz was for the fact I hate trimming brass and I have had good luck with the 30° or better shoulder angle, IE my 6x47 lapua and .284 win. The chamber was throated for a 230 berger to where the boatail angle starts at the base of the neck. I also am a fan of the short fat powder column theory in regards to accuracy. I did fire a few rounds through it today for "break in" fire ten rounds through it rapidly let it cool and fire twenty more through it and clean it, done.
Accuracy has been suprising while fireforming.

That's my kind of break in Jeff. I cleaned my 6.5-300wm after about 13 rounds and then again at 70ish. Now I have about 170 through it and still haven't cleaned it. It hasn't lost any accuracy yet so why mess with it.

I have had good luck with that process, I will run a couple of patches of bore tech eliminator through them for the carbon fouling aspect but I never do a full bare metal cleaning after the initial one.

Here are a few pictures of Jeff's 300 Jazz.

Here is the 300 Jazz. To the left is the 284 Win and 6x47 Lapua.

Thanks for posting this scotty, brian thanks for the comment. I am not sure this phone over exposes the right side of the picture all the time, but you get the idea of what they look like. I just sent the short action bokt to get micro slicked, the 300 bolt is melonited.
