I worked up a load for my Rem 700 .300 SAUM (24" barrel) with the following specs: case length 2.006, COL 2.830, 180 gr AccuBond, 61.2 gr IMR 4350, Fed 215 primer. This gives me 2800 fps muzzle velocity (Chrony at 12 feet).

I've shot this load without problems but was informed by a fellow reloader who plugged my load into his "Quickload" program that it is way over SAAMI pressures. Now I'm about to pull the bullets on what I have loaded and start over. The Nosler data states a max load of 62.5 gr. IMR 4350. Is your test rifle with a 24" Wiseman barrel and Rem 9 1/2 primers that much different than my rifle and load to make such a discrepancy in pressures?

According to the Quickload data I will have to load down to 58.8 grains to get a reasonable psi below 65,000. Can you help me on this? Sorry if I'm ignorant on the topic, but I want to be safe yet get "short mag" performance out of my 300 SAUM (not 30-06 performance).

Thanks for any clarification and/or input on this issue.

Pop will tell you quick load is just another tool. Like anyother computer program, it's only as good as the programer...The Nolser book is usually on the conservative side. If I was under Nosler specs, and did not see any pressure sighs, I wouldn't be too worried. When in doubt, check another book, and another and another.....2 opinions isn't really that many.

I have four different manuals I look @ plus the info I can pull from the web @ most of the powder manufactures......then right here is a great source of info.

Welcome to the forum. As already asked, do you have any pressure signs with your current load? If so, you should back off. If not, than you should have a safe load in your rifle.
Keep in mind that Quick Load is just another tool. Its pretty good, but not absolute. Hopefully, Pop can run your load on Quick Load and give you a second opinion.
Its always a good idea to cross reference load date with several manuals as well as the web.

Hi, I'm new too on this forum... Second year in reloading... But I found some good receip for the 300 SAUM... Btw, I love this caliber...

180 CT Ballistic Silver Tip (Data are the same for the AccuBond...)
62.5gr IMR4350
COL 2.825 with brass trimmed at 2.005-006.
WLRM Primer
Chrony : 2925,2945,2960:2943,33 FPS (Always at 12 feet too)

Nosler book said 2952 but with a 24" barrel, so I'm really good with my 22", AND NEVER SEEN A SINGLE HIGH PRESSURE SIGN...

But contrary to the book, my most accurate load is not with 60.5gr. but with the max load of 62.5gr and by far. Each rifle his own...

BTW, try the 200gr. AccuBond, my rifle love this bullet... I push it at 2819 FPS with :
60gr of IMR4350
WLRM Primer
COL: 2.845 (Max for my Magazine)

The Nosler book indicate 2792 FPS with 60.5gr, out of a 24" barrel, I'm better than that with a shorter barrel... :?:

So, it work well, let use it... And I've not done with this load, I'm grouping 1"@100Y, don't know if it's me or my bench or wathever, but I'm sure I can do better.

Finally found the perfect load for this caliber...

If someone else interested, here is the load...

200gr AccuBond
62gr of RL-17
Primer Fed 215M
COL: 2.845
Avg Velocity: 2893 fps, Max Velocity: 2900 fps
Group: Less than 1" @ 200 Yards

Now, I have to find 5 pounds of RL-17 !!!
