I found info on 24 gr8 Campfire that suggested Tac at 41 grains max. Any here have experience with that combo?
Coponents are:

150 grain Sierra and Speer flat base spitzer.
WRL primers.
New hornady cases.

22 inch barrel 1954 Savage 99

I do have Accurate 2520, which has good book data for 2750 fps! May go with it if accurate.
Also have 3031 and BLc-2, which show So So speeds.

Not much out ther with newer powders.
Any input would help.

Thank you.

Don't try to hot rod that old 99. 150 gr between 2500 to 2550 fps is about right and will get the job done on deer size game to 300 yards easy. 125 Nosler Ballistic Tip is also a super deer bullet in the 300 Savage start it out between 2800 and 2900 fps. I have always had good results with IMR 4895.

I use 2520 for about 2675 from my old 99 with just about any 150. It’s an accurate old rifle and a lot of fun.

Trialed TAC under 150 gr Partitions and Sierras with very good results at about 2500fps. However... as I had a bunch of Varget, that performed identically, Varget is my hunting load.
This is used in my 1899 takedown EG 300Savage. Took a good whitetail buck with it last fall, and it is likely going along on a NL moose hunt next month.
