I got a Vangard in 300 WBY that is primarily going to be used for a back up rifle to my 7 RM and 338 EDGE for black bears and elk. Its a pretty plain rifle with nothing more done to it then a Timney trigger recently installed by myself. I've got a Leupold vx2, 6-18 Target on top for scope. Initial testing was with IMR-7828 and 180g SST's. This rifle didn't like that combo at all, giving me 2-3" groups at 100 yards. Velocity was a lot higher though at 3150-3250fps. Well I worked up a load with 180g NBT's and RL-22 that is producing well under MOA. First group was .7" with the stock trigger, bipod, off the hood, windy conditions. I figured I wasn't gonna get any better then that. The load was 81g of RL-22, 180g NBT, Fed 215, WBY case, 3.560" The next 2 groups were shot off the lead sled and with the new timney trigger installed. The lone flyers were the 1st cold bore shots. I've cronied them at 3075fps. Not as fast as I would like, but with accuracy like that, should kill what I want pretty quick. I"m quite surprised to see this kinda accuracy. Next few tests will be a little longer range to see if the accuracy holds MOA. Just thought I'd share whats been working for my 300 wby.
