I am working up a load for elk. I have been working with 180 gr bullets for a few years and have had mediocre results. I have found the powder may have been at fault as it was deteriorating. So ... I am starting over.

After reading about meat damage I am leaning towards the 200 gr AB as it will be a 3,000 fps +/- load.
The 180's seem to work better on paper at the 3,150 to 3,225 FPS range but are reported to chew up some meat, more so than the 200's ?

Does anyone have experience with the 200's vs 180's on elk and moose ?

I’d be fine with either or 284. To include the 165 AccuBond, 180 and 200’s have been excellent. The 200’s at 3000+ are serious elk killers.

Shoot what shoots best and a 180 or 200 won’t matter much out to 600. I’d be all over the 200’s myself though.
