I need some powder suggestions for this combo.I prefer a full case or slightly compressed load.I have tried H-4831sc,H-1000,Ramshot Hunter.I would like an Extreme powder. The max load for the 4831sc seems to be 78grs. where I can find data, but that doesn't give the velocity that I am wanting.Hopefully,I can safely reach 3180-3200 fps in a safe load. The Lee manual lists 84grs. of H-1000 for 3205 fps.The barrel is a 25.3" Hart with a minimum spec SAMMI chamber:.10" leade,.3395" neck.I am loading Lapua brass,Fed.GM215m primers,o.a.l. of 3.385".The water volumn of a once fired round is 94.6 grs.
The Ramshot Hunter at 74grs. gets the velocity, but I don't think the temperature insensitivity is as good as the Hodgdon Extreme powders.
What are your opinions?
Thanks,
Jimmy

I am fixxing to work up a load with RL22, RL25, and IMR-4831. I will post when I get something. The Lyman manual shows the 165 nos BT so you can start there if you have a copy.

Jimmy,

I would take a look at RL22, high velocity, fills the case and gives great accuracy.

I would give IMR 4831, IMR 7828, and RL22 a whirl...in that order.

In addition to those three, if I had some on hand I would try H4350 and/or IMR 4350 in that order. With 165 grain bullets the 4350's aren't a bad choice.

Has anyone tried this combination? How much powder, velocity, accuracy?
The only loading manuals that I have that show H-4831 are Lee and Swift. They state that max charge is 78 grs.
One more question:Ramshot Hunter-is it insensitive to cold temperatures?
Thank you,
Jimmy
