I'm looking for a steel shooting load for my .300 Win Mag and I just picked up some 190 grain CCs from SPS. What's a good load for these and RL-22? I was thinking about just using the Nosler guide for the 200 grain bullets and working from the minimum until I got pressure signs then backing off.

70.4 grains of RL-22 with 0.010 jump on 190 SMK's has given me several three shot groups at 100 yards under 1/4 MOA and I have shot a 4.XYZ" five shot group at 800 yards as well as consistent sub-MOA five shot groups at 1,000 yards. This is what I have found to work well, although, it shot so well the first time I loaded it, I haven't toyed with the load at all. That would be my starting point though. I use Fed 215M primers and Rem. Cases.

Although, I would look at the 210 Berger VLD, I shoot it in my .300 Win. Mag and know several other shooters/hunters using it that have been as happy as I have. It will be a little more expensive to shoot, but a few cents on a bullet is well worth a smile on my face!

Good shooting!

I was thinking somewhere around 76 grains of RL22 is usually pretty awesome in a 300 Win Mag with about any 180 grain bullet..

Show us some groups when you can.

Velocity with my load out of a 28" Hart at 5450' elevation is 2977 fps. With SJB358's load I'd expect much more! I am going to start at 74.0 grs and work up to see if I can match the accuracy and precision on my current load. If I can't no worries, the accuracy is great for just ringing steel and punching paper, Have shot my current load to 1,220 yards and been satisfied. But SJB's load is nagging at me so I have to try it!!

Thank's for the great info SJB!! I'll let you know how the results turn out in my rifle!!

I got another question for y'all and I figure I'll ask it here instead of starting a new topic. How much lubrication is required for neck sizing?

None. Maybe a little mica in the neck to let it slide through, but even then, I don't think it is required.

I use just a touch of lube as needed, usually when they start to squeak. I use Imperial, neck sizing is really easy on cases.

Pretty much yes.

Do not discount H1000. It made the 300 Winnie what it is today at 1000 yards. Hence the name H1000.
