300 winnie w/ e tip info

Just generic info:

  • Use the slowest suitable powders
Seat .050-.100" off the lands to start
Tweak seating depth in .005" increments as the sweet spot is narrow, in my experience

Hope that's helpful.

To add to Dubyam's comments. I have loaded a bunch for the 300WM with both 180's and 200's. RL22 was about the best of the lot with them. I know 76-77gr's is max with the other 180's and Nosler recommends the mid charge as MAX for their ET's. As per the Nosler folks I spoke with, starting around .100" off the lands isn't a bad call with the ET's either. Not saying you couldn't do better, closer, but this depth would be a good place to start. Scotty

depending upon the rifle, you may only be able to load maxumum magazine length, unless you are single loading. My win mag shoots just about every 180 gr. bullet well, using "full" book loads of 4350. Fills the case up nicely and mine loves it.

start at 71 gr of h4831 or rl22

80gr H1000 180gr Etip is where i'm at. .030 off the lands is where i set my die after some trials. Etip is a long bullet so finding the best OAL and fitting in your magazine might be challenging.

I used 71 gr RL-22 in my 300 WM seated .050" off the lands. shot consistent 3/4" groups.

What kind of speed are you getting from them? Scotty

i'll check my notes tonight, I believe i was getting 3030 avg. I worked the load up using the OCW method.

I posted my 180gr etip loads and here.

I found that .050" off the lands was very consistent. I shot the 180gr Etips on different days and was very happy. I think it would be a great combo. I ended up selling my 300 WM to fund other projects I was more interested in.
