300 WSM Bullet question

Nosler Hunting Ballistic Tips are great for deer, but at .300 WSM speeds, especially at close range, they tend to be on the fragile side. While they have a thicker jacket than standard Ballistic Tips, they aren’t designed to withstand heavy bone impact at ultra-high velocities. If you hit a shoulder bone at 3,200 fps, there’s a risk of fragmentation rather than controlled expansion and deep penetration.

on the flip side of that coin a bullet that is extra tough, and shot through a softer area risks no expansion or low expansion pending velocity, angle etc...

IMO...
There is still no DO-all bullet made. Bullet tech is much improved over let's say 25 years ago but you can't get around tough on bone yet also expands great going right through the rib cage hitting skin only.

I have harvested countless of whitetail deer with ballistic tip bullets and never have had one go more than a few steps. Shoulder shots no matter.
180gr running near 3100 fps
Shots ranging from 30 yards to 500 plus and every yardage in between.

The modern day ballistic tip is fine White tail bullet IMO and works great in the WSM
