About the only load I've had really shoot well from my Model 70 Coyote is the 210 gr Berger VLD over 61 gr of H4350 for about 2815 fps. It's solidly at 1/2 MOA, for a three shot group at 300 yards at 1.5" or less.

Tried several loads with the 200 gr AccuBond - which I really wanted to shoot well, and tough time keeping them at one MOA.

Also tried several 165's, the Ballistic Tips & Partitions, as well as some Barnes TSX's. I think I tried the good old 165 & 168 gr Sierras as well, and again ho-hum accuracy.

Haven't messed with 180's much though... Have some 180 Sierras & 180 Partitions on hand.

Thoughts on getting the .300 WSM to shoot? I've no doubt that the 210 Bergers will do a fine job, but am hoping to get a tougher hunting bullet to shoot nearly as well as the Bergers.

The Coyote has a fairly heavy laminated stock, fully floated barrel measuring about .74" at the muzzle, with a target crown. This one is set up with a light-breaking Jewell trigger as well. The rifle can obviously shoot well, I'm just hoping to get accuracy something like the Bergers are giving me, but with a tougher hunting bullet.

Thanks, Guy

A load of 67.0 of RL 22 and a 180 AB, from my friends Savage 300wsm will group into 1" or less at 100 yds. The primer is a Fed 210 Match primer, but he says a Win. LR does the same. I don't have the velocity for this load.

Your rifle has all indications that it should be a real tack-driver with the way it is constructed.

I have loaded for several and the load that has worked in all of them is 69.5grs of IMR-4831, 165gr Sierra BTHP Game King, and a WLR primer not the WLRM. The bullets were seated 10-15 thousants off the lands.Rick.

My accuracy and hunting load for the .300 WSM with 165 grain Partitions for deer, was 69.0 grains of IMR 4350, Fed 215 MM primer and W-W cases. In my Browning Medallion, this load shot under 1 inch at 200 yards. A great deer load.

Guy,
My go to load is 180 abonds and partitions with imr4350@64 grains Nosler brass and cci mag primers.

Guy,
I had better luck with lighter bullets in my WSM. 74gr of Superformance and 150gr NABs shot MOA and 3400fps out of a 24" barrel. The 165's were almost as accurate and with 72gr were moving at 3285. Since I had other guns that shot bigger bullets I stopped there.

IMR 4831 66 grains
180 grain Ballistic Silver Tip

Sub 1" all day long. Hot or cold bbl. Rapid shots or not.

I've actually covered three shots with a dime and 5 shots with a nickel with this load in a sporter bbl.

Those two extreme groups are not the normal but close to that type of group is common with this load.

Ordinary model 70, sporter bbl.

That bullet does nice work on white tail deer in case you were curious about that on game.

I would say you can ask the many that were taken with this load, but they have already enjoyed dinner with us.

Guy, I know your an H4350 fanatic, but give RL19 a try with the 200's. Eric, Nosler's ballistician said it was "the" powder for the 300WSM and I have no good reason to doubt him. Everytime I have tried another powder with the 300, I always come back to RL19.

Then again, all you others have great loads as well, and Genes results with RL17 mirror mine as well, but RL19 eaked out a little more accuracy in my rifle.. Never thought to try RL17 with the 200's though, might be worth a shot?

I've had several excellent loads in the 300WSMs that I've owned. With a Hornady 180 grain SP and WLRM primers, 66.5 grains of RL19 or 64 grains of IMR4350 have served me quite well. The Hornady 180 grain IB with WLRM and 65 grains of IMR4350 produced an outstanding load, as well. My "go to" load has been 180 grain CT FS and CCI200 with 69.5 grains of WXR. I'm parceling out the last of my Fail Safes and my WXR to keep this load working in the bush for me. Sixty-nine point five grains of RL19 and WLRM primers produce just the right combination of velocity and accurayc with a 180 grain Swift AF. Two hundred grain Sierra GKs, WLRM primers and 68.0 grains of VN560 gives me a great load. I also have a great load built around 180 grain Speer Mag-Tip, CCI200 primer and 65.0 grains of IMR4831.

180 gr. Accubonds and Magpro get 9/16 groups from my brother's Browning BAR at 100 yards. My nephew shoots the same in his A bolt, and basically is one raged hole.

It is near max load, right at the compressed load level, but no pressure problems at all.

I forgot to add the primer to that load..

federal gold medal 215 M (lg rifle magnum match)

The little extra they cost are worth it.

IMR 4350 works good in this caliber 180 gr as well.

Almost any combo is going to work good. Reloader 17 works good too...this is one of those calibers that just isn't fussy whatsoever.

the 300 wsm eat almost any powder you feed it and shoot respectable. If there hadn't been so many .308's already produced for military purposes this would be caliber of choice for the snipers and law enforcement....in some cases it already has been chosen
