I sorta gave up on the 200 AB in my 300WSM. Just couldn't get the big AB to do what I wanted, so I went back to the 180 AB which worked pretty decent in the past. Worked a little with RL19 and H4831SC. Both look pretty decent. Hopefully these come together a little faster..

I am going to do a seating profile, with both 68 grains of RL19 and with 70 grains of H4831SC. Both of them look great in the speed department, and man, I hope they come together. Wanna get the little 300 out on the longer range soon.

Did standard deviations look reasonable on these loads, Scotty? I do believe the 180s are more than adequate for the 300WSM.

Scotty, If you have any IMR4831 give that a try. I've had very good luck with it using 180 grain Sierra pro hunters. Velocity is 3030fps with 67.5 grains. Accuracy at 200 yards has been 1 1/2 inches. I also had good luck with RL17 using 64 grains with a velocity of 3050fps. Groups hovering around 1 3/4 at 200 yards.

Scotty,

I also had some problems with Accubonds and consistent accuracy. I switched back to Partitions and that solved the problem.

The PTs aren't as purely accurate as the old ABs were, but they still shoot consistently MOA. Granted, not the 0.75 MOA I had come to expect from the old ABs...

The speeds were pretty good Mike with 68/68.5 grains RL19 and towards the upper end with H4831SC.

I have a little IMR4831 on the bench. Probably enough to check out if I like it after I find a seating depth node.

Your R19 load is 2 grains over max according to nosler reloading data... From my experience in a 300 wsm, the 180 AccuBond gets worse the faster you try to push it. Mine shot really well right at 66 grains for an average of 2950 fps. That was out of a custom rifle with a 23in bull barrel. You might want to try to back down your load. Just my 2 cents

Scotty, my old addage of "horz. groups, use less powder; vert. grouping, use more powder" may work here. Your targets indicate wider groups as your powder charge got heavier. But then I don't own the .300wsm ... yet

Which primer are you using?

I am using CCI250's right now.

Great strategy though. Never heard of that before. I will have to study my shot groups and look at my charges.

My 300wsm shows a real favor for IMR4831, I believe right around 66gr and just seated to fit in the magazine.

...try some RL-17 (66grs. max), get them puppies moving, & they should come to together a little better...

I have some of that too.. Might be up next..

Same for the IMR4831..

Yeah, I never quite got the 200 AB's to shoot real well from the .300 WSM either - not bad, but not great.

Odd, because the 210 gr Bergers shot GREAT from the same rifle & powder charge, H4350.

I never got the 200 grain ABs to shoot properly out of either of the 300WSMs that I have owned. Two hundred grain Sierra Game Kings? They shoot lights out.

I have also not got the 200 AB to shoot good enough for me. I have however had 200 Partitions shoot in the 1/2" range.

The 200 gr Accubonds are very long bullets so that might be part of the problem with some guns, oddly enough a super accurate Savage 116 30-06 shot them into about 1/2" at 2550 fps with H 4350, wouldn't have expected that with a bullet 1 1/2" long out of a 1 in 10 twist.

I gave them a fair shot I think. Gotta hit the range shortly and verify some 180 AB loads, but I was a little down about the 200 AB's not coming around.
