Just starting with this rifle. I've got several other bullets to try but so far the Sierra 165 has shown to be right around an inch. I haven't shot enough to mean much yet.

I used to tell people that if a .308 wouldn't shoot a 165/168 Sierra well, it wouldn't shoot...

I'll add the 165 Nosler Ballistic Tip to that list as well.

Might not be quite true - but I've seen those bullets shoot so doggone well from the .308 Win in so many different rifles...

I used the 168gr BT in my 308 win BLR and they were just under 1" moa. I was using Varget if I remember right.

Looks to be a good start. The 165 gr Sierra would be an awesome deer bullet and would work fine on bigger game too.

If I'm reading that correctly you're at 43.0 grs of Varget ?
You need to keep working up.
I'm shooting 165 BTs with 48 grs of Varget.
I'd also play with the seating depth but all in all you're off to a good start.
The deer population in your area isn't gonna like it too well though :lol:

With the 168 gr Sierra Match King mine likes 44.5 grains of Varget, and shoots in the low .200's. Try speeding it up a little and adjusting AOL

The online Nosler reloading data shows, 46 gr. to be a max load and 44 was the most accurate in the rifle used for testing.

All of my .308's (think I have 6 now) have done best at 45-Grs of Varget. With Varget I have always got the best results toward the top capacity. Good luck!

165 Sierra does well in my BLR also. Max load of R15, Fed 210 primer. Consistent 3/4 inch for 3 shots every time. Barrel heats to much after that.

Has been a good deer load.
