Nice day today, mid 40's, light wind, clear skies. Let's go shooting!

Ammo was the .308 Win, with 125 gr Nosler Ballistic Tip bullets loaded over 48 gr of RE-15 in Federal cases with CCI 200 primers.

Fired them from my 24" Krieger-barreled Rem 700 and saw an average velocity of 3043 fps with excellent accuracy. Only ran five shots over the chronograph, so the statistical sample is very small, but the SD figure of 5 looked pretty good. Recoil was mild, and the primers showed no sign of excess pressure.

Knew things were going to look good when the cold bore shot hit:

My friend's wife hasn't tried them yet - but I sure like this load! Am going to try it at longer ranges, and maybe even on deer or 'yotes in time.

Regards, Guy

Looking good, Guy. I may have to break down and try the 125 grain BT in my '06. It would be fascinating if I could get that sort of accuracy for coyotes and/or wolves.

Well that is a one-hole group - but it's also only one shot!

Guy,

Sounds like a nice mild load.
Did you shoot beyond the 1 shot group? How was the accuracy?

I didn't have a lot of ammo loaded up for my use JD - but it's EASILY under MOA... I'll load some more and mess with it out at 300 yards to see how it shoots.

That will make you a fine deer dropper. I shoot 46 grs IMR 4895 for average 3000 fps in my 308 Win and it does shoot one hole groups at 100 yards. It hammers deer also. My hunting buddy and I have done a good bit of testing on deer with the 125 BT at different velocities. Just like Nosler says keep it under 3100 fps impact velocity and it works great. Push it up to higher velocity and it really comes apart on shoulder bones.

My wifes go to deer load is the 125gr Sierra. I use a decent charge of Varget and get about 2900 and it hammers deer! I am keeping my eye out for 2nds and once I am able to grab a bunch of them, I plan on loading them up and trying them out this Fall. If it wasn't my wifes 308, I would love to try it out! Scotty
