.308 win Load Question.

Does anyone have a load for a 308 win. using 130 gr. Speer Flat Nose, I would like to
load some for my son's H&R single shot, to about 300 Savage velocity?

I have used Win 748 with 130HP Speer bullets using 50grs which is on the upper end. We have taken many deer with that load. Benchrest also works well. For reduced loads 4895 works well.

I did reduced loads for a young girl a couple years ago . I used 125 gr ballistic tips with IMR4198 . in my speer # 13 manual it shows a 125 gr TNT-HP bullet and also a 130 gr HP using the same data . the reduced load is IMR4198 25.0 gr min @ 1969 FPS .......... 29.0 gr MAX @ 2185 FPS . as drivenhunter has said the H4895 powder works well in reduced loads . I have loaded 46 grs IMR 4895 with the 125 ballistic tip for years for my 308. It has a 21 1/2" barrel and this load does right at 3000 fps with light recoil but it drops deer DRT. You could drop back 2 or 3 grs and try your 130 gr bullet.
