My 165 Sierra GameKing and 165gr Nosler BT have performed excellent in my Rem 600 with 18.5” and 44.0 of IMR 4064 over the years on game.

I use Varget on mine with 165 Ballistic Tips, 45.7 grains and averages 2840 fps with a 26 inch barrel. Start low and work up.

First and foremost, welcome to the forum. I’m glad to have you here. We respect each other. Great people here. Many people have immeasurable experience and will help without hesitation. I’ve had friends help me with components and advice on here, and not just with reloading.
As far as a good powder for a mid length barrel, TAC has a burn rate that’s easy to get accuracy and above average velocities from a 308 Win. I top out with it from a 22” barrel at 46 grains with 150 gr Ballistic Tips. 47.5 grains is max in my bolt gun so I load to 46 grains. Any of the powders in the TAC to CFE223 burn range will work well For you.
CFE223 is my favorite for 308Win. TAC is on the faster end compared to CFE223 but work very well for me. With either 4895 or 4064, along with Winchester 748 great as well. In order of my fav to least is CFE223, Win 748, Imr 4895, and TAC. With 168 grain or heavier if use CFE or 748.
You’ll get about the same velocities with all but your rifle will like one above all others.
