.308 Win, SAKO 85 to the range

Dani brought her bore-sighted .308 SAKO to the range, topped by a 3-9x Leupold, and shooting 125 gr Nosler Ballistic Tip ammo that I loaded. Wow!

Two shots at 25 yards to confirm the bore-sight.

Three shots at 100 yards, two were touching, one about an inch out.

Dialed in the windage & elevation adjustments and fired three more, creating a nice vertical string, all shots touching (about 1/2" group) about 1.5" high at 100 yards. Perfect. Somebody was happy!



She did really, really well, and outshot her husband, who then had to buy lunch! Hah! :grin:

Good coaching and good ammo is what I decided it was. Has nothing to do with her ability to shoot or the ammo I loaded for her. I think she's going to put the ammo to the test against whitetail this November. Hope so!

Thanks Mike, it was a good day. I was really pleased with how well she shot, and with how well my handloaded ammo worked from her rifle. I worked up the load in my .308 Green Machine, then loaded fifty rounds in new brass for her rifle. Her SAKO gobbled it up, then shot a 1/2", three shot group at 100 yards, rested on nothing better than a rolled up shooting mat!

She did real well, as did the ammo. I told her that a little practice with field shooting positions and she'll do great if a whitetail buck shows up this November! I have huge faith in that 125 gr Nosler Ballistic Tip.

Those Sako's are shooters! Man, great load work Guy. Seems like she should hammer some deer if given the chance.

What kinda speed are you getting out of them?

Been a while since I ran 'em across the chronograph. As I recall, they were at a little over 3,000 fps.

I'll dredge up the records, they're buried in my loading binder somewhere. I hope!
