Hello
Starting to reload for a 325 WSM model 70 with a 24" barrel, Could use a little help if you would. Like to use 200 Grain Nosler Partician, IMR 4350 with, Win. Brass and primer. COAL of 2.860. Was thinking of useing 64.5 and 65 Grains of 4350 and starting from there, I Don't know the Max load for that barrel or Max FPS with that combination. Nosler data in there manual uses a 26" barrel. Any thoughts or advise? Rifle has a nice smooth trigger I'm impressed.
Thank you

First off, welcome aboard. We're also glad to see the forum expanding.

To answer your question, barrel length will have no effect on chamber pressure. Therefore, the maximum charge will be identical regardless of barrel length. Velocities will be between 50 and 70 fps lower in your 24" barrel than in the 26" barrel used to generate the Nosler data. I would start at 61.0 grains and work up in 2 grain increments to a maximum charge of 65 grains for your initial tests. One of those will stand out for accuracy, giving you guidance on where to look next.

Welcome as well. I only used H 4350 and H 4831 sc the short while I had a 325 WSM so can't help with IMR 4350. The 325 WSM is an excellent cartridge.

With the 200 grain Partition, I use Big Game. I've also had excellent success with RL19 and H4350. The 325 is a hammer on elk and moose.

I've used IMR4350 in the 325wsm with good results. I shoot the 200gr NAB over 66gr, Win case and Fed 215 primers. It is less than MOA and scoots at just under 2900fps out of my 24" Kimber. It is an over book load but safe in my gun. My COAL is a little longer than standard. IMR 4350 was the most accurate powder I tried. Start low and work up to be safe.

Thanks for all the information, will start low and work up. My son lives in AK and left the rifle with me to work a load up for him. Plans on using it on Caribou and Moose. I enjoy reloading, shooting and hunting so I don't mind this project at all. Looks like this is a forum that has a large number of knowledgeable people and a person can learn a lot if you want to.

We all love to reload, shoot and hunt here! Your in great company. Watch out for Dr. Mike though. He has a heckuva power of persuasion to make other rifles follow you home! Ha!

Be nice, Scotty; no picking on the old guy. I've never been able to persuade you to pick up a 325 WSM ... yet. However, hope springs eternal.

It is not for lack of trying on your part or lack of created want you devised!

I won't leave Wild Gene out though, he does apply a certain amount of pressure as well..

...iff'n the 200gr. AccuBond doesn't work for you, I've had good luck w/ the 220gr. Sierra GameKing/ 63grs. RL-17 on 5 elk. Pretty accurate, very good BC, & terminal performance...

If I were to get into the WSM game, I would take a hard look at the 325. It looks like a great round.

I really wished I would have went 325WSM over the 300 the first time. It's okay, gives me another shot at the 325 in the future.

The 325 is a surprisingly well-behaved round--easy to load for and packing a pretty good wallop.
