Got lucky and snagged a few bags of seconds off of shooters pro shop. Now that they're actually producing these, hopefully my backorder of firsts will ship soon. I'm excited to get these loaded up in my 338 Lapua!

I placed an order through SPS and should have them next week. I just might be able to field test one on a WT doe since I still have a tag.

Please share the results if you do! I'm all tagged out for the year. But I'm sure I'll have a chance to run one through a cow elk next year at a minimum.

That thing looks like a pencil almost must have an extremely high b.c.

According to nosler the G1 is 0.785. I actually expected it to be a bit higher. We'll see how the numbers pan out once I get a chance to play with it.

Cool, hope you keep us up to date with how it goes for you. Very impressive looking bullet and it's always neat to see how load development goes.

I got a couple bags of those to try myself, keep us posted on your load data

I received my order of 338 300 gr ABLR bullets. Loaded some up with Retumbo and headed to the range.
Shot a couple different loads at 200 yards and then did a quick zero. Also took a couple shots at the 300 yard gong with a 2 MOA hold. Plenty accurate enough to hunt.
I'll probably sit on the edge of the swamp this weekend and give this bullet a try on a big WT doe.

Jim, good luck hunting this weekend with that load. I look forward to your results. Dan

I have had a chance to play with these new bullets over the last 2 weekends. Out to 1200 yards today! Not having a starting BC I just used the RDF 300 grain that populated into my ballistics calculator. Which had a G7 of 428.

I am getting 2815 FPS using RL33 and a long 3.750 OACL. That calculated to a 27.5 MOA adjustment for my 1st target at 1161 yards. Had to come up another 1/2 MOA for a total of 28 for direct hits. Tried backing into a BC on my app and it is looking closer to .416 or around .835 G1....... I am sure that I may be missing some other factors.....but was very happy to start within a half MOA of the Calc with a new bullet and not any current data. Shot out to 1200 before wrapping up for the day. This looks like it could be a great bullet!

Gary,

Thanks for posting this information.
You certainly know how to make those Montana Rifles sing. Nice work buddy.

Here is some info from my Labradar and ballistics calculator based on an .835 BC. I wish that I had captured the velocity at 125 yards for additional trending. Obviously not quite .835.......but within 3 FPS at 75 and 100 yards

Pretty impressive numbers, I’ve had my 338 Jarrett for about 20 years, I keep thinking about those 300s but at 65 I can’t see 1100 yards.
Sounds like a perfect set up for Mt. Emily.

I filled my doe tag December 30 with the 338 RUM and the new 300 gr ABLR. The bullet hit her behind the right shoulder and exited on the last rib on the off side leaving a 2" exit wound. She dropped at the shot and died in a few seconds.
