I used some book data for the 338Fed and 210gr Sirocco Swift bullets. It was Starline brass, win mag primers and 45.5grs of Win 748 for 2441FPS and SD 4 in my short barrel rifle.
I also tested a 200gr Nosler BT bullet with same brass/primer and 50.5grs of Win 748 for 2592FPS and SD 1.
OAL for both was 2.280"

My question is how much more powder can I safely use for the 210gr Sirocco load?? I understand there is 10grs difference in bullet weight and also a difference in the jacket material (Swift bullet is bonded and 100% pure copper) but would like to safely get a bit more FPS with the Swift bullet. This is what I was thinking about for a Wisconsin Whitetail deer hunt.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

have the Swift reloading manual and looked at the Hodgdon website. I was just wondering what Quick load had to show

Thanks DrMike. I posted my 2nd post before your post showed up on my computer. The quick load is less than the Hodgdon data and as I remember the Swift book data also. Thank you for taking the time to do this for me.

Interesting results with the 200 gr BT! What was the accuracy like?

I have the 200 gr AB that I want to develop a load for in my Sako with a 22" Wilson carbon fibre barrel.
I have found reference for a load of 50.6 gr of Re-17 that is supposed to produce 2652 fps in a 24" barrel. Will see how working up a load in my rifle performs. I have Federal brass and F210 and 210M primers. Also have some WLRM primers too, if that works better.
Hopefully I can get a SD as low as yours!
