CZ

There is something magical about the fast 338's.

Nothing to add but I also think that the .338 Lapua is even more of a good thing than the .340 Weatherby.

G'Day Fella's,

CZ, it's an awesome long range hunting cartridge and it's also an impressive looking rifle/cartridge combo you have there!
Mine is just a Rem 700 MLR but still and all!
As Old trader says, the Lapua has just a bit more than the .340 Weatherby but still short of the .338 Rum and .338/378 W/by!

But in reality, how much is enough?
I was away bush for an over nighter during Easter, and my old mate Toofa shot a medium size Boar Pig, with his Sako L46 in 7 x 33 cartridge!
The pig only went One Foot after the shoulder shot, and that was DOWN!
This is a miniscule predecessor to the likes of the .300 Whisper etc, from the Sako factory of the 1940's 50's and like the 7.62 x 39, they kill way out of proportion to their size!
Or is this (Bigger is Better), just what we are used to these days?

CZ, sorry I don't mean to hi-jack your post, the above was just a bit of a Reality Check to me!
Mind you, I personally believe there is no such thing as Over Kill!!!

Doh!

Fine looking rifle that also shoots well.

Now, let's see it propped up against some huge, hairy critter! Something with horns and a bad disposition, or giant branched antlers...

Red Stag, elk, moose, water buffalo, grizzly bear... Something worthy of the .338 cartridge!

Or a rockchuck!

You definitely have it dialed in. The 338 Lapua is gaining an enviable reputation, and your rifle will only enhance that reputation.

HomerOz I see the .338 Lapua as a well balanced round such as a .308, Have
had a lot of development on the military industry and has been tested in different
enviroments around the world, Ive had the luck to have worked with rifles and cartdiges
of all makes and sizes, and for sure will make a difference for certain aplications over other
rounds, yes there is a .338Win Mag,.338Rum,.340Wby,.338-.378Wby, but this Lapua just
plain works. Have fun is the name of the game, you can use whatever you like in high power
rifles for game, fotis can give you a good statement, goats with a .340Wby. Anyone who likes
rifles and powder for sure will be pleased when you test one of this with its long, heavy 300gr bullets, by now I have my long range rifle.

CZ - the Lapua is indeed a very well thought-out cartridge. Although it's mostly been used in long-range precision rifles, I think that it would also work very, very well in a more conventional all-around hunting rifle.

Why not? It's just a really good .33 cal cartridge, and there are some OUTSTANDING .33 cal hunting bullets avail for it, not just long-range specialty bullets.

The long-range accuracy pedigree can't hurt either.

The power of the 338 Lapua (or 338 RUM) can not be denied.
It hits very hard and with proper shot placement, animals just drop in their tracks.
I shot this cull buck last summer with the new 300 gr AB from my 338 RUM at 439 yards.

CZ,

You have a winner.

CZ great looking rifle you have there. What do you figure it weighs? I had a 338 Lapua built on a weatherby action and while I loved the accuracy it just weighed to much to want to pack around in the mountains for elk.

by now I dont know the weight, but in the first chance will let you know, for sure its on the
heavy side, but with a good rest for sure its steady and dangerous.
