338 RCM Heavy Round Nose Limit?

I wonder what the heaviest old school, round nose bullet I could get 2400fps with in this short round? It doesn't have to be round nose, of course, but they'll be shorter. I don't care if its semi pointed, etc as long as it opens well out to 150yds or so. I can order Hawks with .030 or .035 jackets, not sure which is best at 2400fps ( if I can get it that fast). I read a good article on the Swift 275AF, but I am curious. Ever since I had such good results with that 310 RN Woodleigh from a 35 WAI ( also going 2400 w/R15) I'd like to try something similar. Any opinions or QL data? I'm thinking at least a 250gr, just for a woods load. I'm weird, I know, just pray for me! :twisted:

Wow! I figured the 250 could "maybe" do 2500, but it seems it can do much better. I am surprised the 300 Woodleigh could go so fast too! My goodness, this little 338 RCM case is full of surprises! thanks doc for taking the time to do this for me...you may have to inform your relatives of our Funeral Arrangement deal! :twisted: :lol:

The 338 RCM is a cartridge showing great promise. It is one that would work almost anywhere in North America for about anything one might encounter. I'm informing my family to ready themselves for a concert at my funeral! :shock: Fortunately, I won't be present to hear what goes down--I've already made other arrangements. :mrgreen:
