I picked up my rifle from the gunsmith yesterday afternoon receiving a call that it was ready.
Starting out as a M700 LSS it is now a new rig.
Here are the details...
Remington 700 action blueprinted
Krieger #5 27" 1:9.35 twist
8 flutes by Twisted Barrel
Heavy duty recoil lug
Williams Tactical Brake
HS Precision Hunter stock
Leupold VX-6HD 3-18x50mm
Leupold picatinny rail and PRW rings
The Smith test fired the rifle with Remington Green box factory ammo and shot a .5" group at 100 yards.
I'm looking forward to getting a load worked up with the 250 gr AB and proving it out to 800 yards. I've got about a month to get this done so I can be ready for some crop damage deer hunting.

Very nice, Jim. That should get the attention of any game you shoot.

Wow! It's hard to do better than a Krieger barrel... Nice.

I'll miss the old gray laminate stock in your photos...

Jim,

That looks great. You must be very pleased. I am looking forward to seeing your targets.

Nice!

Who did you have do the work?
Rob Canze at Williams Gun Sight in Davison MI.
Rob does excellent work.

The break in is done and I'm trying to zero in on load.
Working with Retumbo and IMR 8133.
I hope to get out tomorrow evening with the Oehler 35 and get some speeds recorded. I'm looking for 3000 fps with the 250 gr AB. Shouldn't be too much longer.

Looks like there is a couple of standouts so far. Curious how 8133 compares to retumbo velocity wise as accuracy looks great. (y)

I went back out to the range and clocked loads.
IMR 8133 is doing ok but on the slow side at 2885 fps.
Retumbo is there at 98.6 grs, avg mv 3018 fps es 35 sd 17. First two went .100" and the third one opened up the group. I'm thinking maybe it's the R-P brass.
Time to try some Nosler brass.
I think she is going to be a shooter.
