What are your favorite loads for the 225 grain AccuBond in the 338 win mag? Can the 225 grain AccuBond be pushed to 2900 fps in the 338 win mag with a 26 inch barrel safely?

IMR 4350 and RL 19 are both great powders for your 338 WM and the 225 gr AB. You should get over 2800 fps but 2900 fps might be a little optimistic.

Laker, I worked with the 225gr Accubonds quite a bit in my 24" barreled M70. Jim is right on telling you about RL19. I think it is THE powder for the 338. I was able to get 2850 using 74gr of RL19. It was a very easy load, and shot really well, under an inch pretty easily. Right now I am using 225gr Hornady SST's and using 76gr's of RL19, CCI 250's and WW cases. These are getting 2896 average. I would think you could break 2900 with your 26" barrel, but really, the difference between 2850 and 3000 is so small, either load is very deadly. Scotty

Well with my old cchrony I could but my new one says 2800. I believe the new one more. 2900 is pushing it in most guns. the best groups I'm getting out of mine are with 74g IMR 4350, and it is a bit warm. only getting about 2775 with 69 gr RL-19 with the 225 TTSX, and right at 2800 with 74 gr. IMR 4350 and the 225 AB.

JD nailed it. If it won't shoot them with 4350, or RL-19 then something is wrong.

Good point Jake. I guess anything between 2800 and 2900 is still flatter than a 30-06 with a 180 and hitting like train when it gets there. Scotty

There is no replacement for displacement
The 338's hit very hard!

Reloader 19 @ 78.0
WW Brass
Fed 215GM
225gr AccuBond and Part
2940 FPS in my Win 70.

This is my Moose Load!

But still under 54,000 CUP.

225gr Barnes TSX use 74.0 for 2820FPS

WW brass
WMRP
71.5 gr H4350.
2850 fps. This is my most accurate load with the 225gr AB's. I've reached 2950 fps, but the groups open up.

Man, that is a smoking load out of a 338 Win Mag. If I didn't already have a good load with RL19, I would really like try out H4350. Seems like it is neck and neck with RL19 in speed and accuracy, plus it is probably less temp sensitive being an Extreme powder. Scotty
