That is the plan.I would stick with that for now and hunt. I would check it in the summer. I use RL 22 with AB in my 300WBY with great success. I do not think it’s as temperature sensitive as people say.
I get on a soap box about that...I do not think it’s as temperature sensitive as people say.
What platform are you using? That is the plan.
am so happy you said that. My first 10 years of hunting, I used IMR 4350 and 180 BT in 300 WBY.at max load, no longer considered safe by data publishers. Weather in Texas can be from 40 to 90 when hunting. No problem. For my South Africa trip, loaded my WBY with 200 PT and RL 22 and my son’s with 200 AB and RL 22. Some days first. Some days shorts. No problems.I get on a soap box about that...
How on earth did we ever shoot before powders started saying "impervious to weather changes "
"Less affected by weather"
If it's trendy shooters will latch on to it with a death grip.
You'd think powders from yesterday like IMR 4350 or Winchester 760 are shooting around corners when the weather changes.
"I missed that deer jimmy. What happened? Oh you know....the weather swung and now my accurate loads can't hit the ocean shooting from the pier"
Elaborate more please.I

For 10 years in the 1980’s through early 1990s I loaded 79 grn 1MR 4350 and 180 grn BT for my German 300 WBY. I was getting 1/2” 5 round group at 100 with an old 1959 WBY scope. IMR was DuPont then. Now that load is considered why above max and unsafe. I was told powder has not changed, but primers have and that is no longer safe. That rifle was retired. Replaced first by M70 30.06 and now an M70 .270. I have other MKV wby 300, 2 I load 200 AB or PT with RL 22 and one with 180TTSX and 7828z. Hunted with the first two in Africa, never hunted with the last.Elaborate more please.
I've an old nosler book I'll have ro compare some from yesteryear to present book.
I never thought to look
After the hunts, I'll shoot three 200 Accubonds again and see if its the problem. Just loaded 35 rounds of 180's last night and zero in a few days before the nilgai hunt.it looks like you figured it out . I would never have guessed it was a different weight bullet . add another one to the list of things that make me go Hmmmm . let us know after you shoot again a time or two .
You got this! After the hunts, I'll shoot three 200 Accubonds again and see if its the problem. Just loaded 35 rounds of 180's last night and zero in a few days before the nilgai hunt.
Great job and good luck on the hunt. Nilgai is one of the best tasting AntelopesWent out this evening to sight in my 300 WM / 180 Accubonds, wanted to confirm again on the cold bore issue a second time. Winds was variable around 12-18 mph right to left. On the first target, I used a target that was previously shot at,,,cold bore at 12 o clock high, 2nd shot in the same hole. I'm happy. Readjusted height and used a clean target and shot 3rd shot, a tad above the bullseye and very little left for wind drift, called it good. I set up a 10 inch steel plate at 350 yards to confirm the Kestrel calibrations. Programmed weather values with the Kestrel, adjusted 3.7 MOA on the ATACR, and I was not adjusting windage. I decided to read the wind and lead, so I settled on the right edge of the steel plate and let her fly, a splash on the right of center, so I gave it a little too much lead, so aimed a 2nd time 3 inches from the right edge, ding, and center hit. I enjoy reading the wind, its a good learning experience when you are in the field. Seems I'm done and wrote my load in stone. I got one more week to go. According to the weather , it will be cold and raining all week and into next week.
