.35 Whelen

Consequently, the World Class series of scopes was about the only scopes Tasco built that were of value. That could be a real bargain.

Nice find Bill!

The 35 Whelen will get r done.

I've been bit by the Whelen bug bad..........
Had hope for a complete virgin in the box.
We will see...

Don't rule out a 700 Classic if you find one. They are shooters!

Skidmark, I know that feeling once you get the bug it is hard to concentrate 8). Please let us know on the bids go? Good Luck .
Soon to be a brother in the Whelen family !!

Blessings,
Dan

Skidmark, before I found mine here on Nosler I was planning on building one. If you have a 270 or other 30-06 based rifle JES can convert it into a 35 Whelen for you.

I am considering a build from a donor action.
It's like being a kid again.

My Ruger 30-06 was going to be a donor platform for a .35 Whelen but since I have a sub moa load I can't beat to part with it.

Yes it is. I had all the plans made and resources in place to build my Whelen when health problems struck and had to put things on hold. Then Lee put his Whelen up for sale and I had to figure out a way to make it mine. I got lucky with the deal and we are both happy Just wish I could find the time to shoot it since my wife decided to put me back to work time is now a priceless commodity.

Don't Laugh  but here's the plan.
I have a new Remington Long Range 30.06 as the donor,
Pac Nor Stainless Std Match @ 24" in the same Varmint
profile, will drop in to the B&C M40 That came on the Long Range,
a set of Talley bases and fixed rings holding a VX6 1-6 X24.
Yes a little heavy but I think it will be good, Thinking 1:10 maybe 1:12 twist
I want to shoot 250's or better. Beaded matte finish on the barrel recessed Target crown.
we will see....

I wouldn't laugh at your plans; they appear to be solid. A 12 twist will be sufficient for anything you want to shoot. My 12 twist is sufficient to stabilise 280 grain A-Frames.

Sounds like a great build. A 1:12 twist would be perfect.
