Just a quick update found out today my rifle should be shipped back to me by the end of the week. Not too bad of a turn around a little better than two weeks on the whole project. He quoted me 12-16 weeks but I'm not going to complain.
....................................................................It looks like you`ll have your new .375 Ruger (rechambered) before I`ll get my Howa M1500
Got my little card in the mail today telling me I need to pick up my new .375 RUGER!!!

Well I ordered in my scope on Thursday, it should be here sometime next week. I don't know how many guys here check out the classifieds over on AR forums but look for a guy named Allen Glore if you do. This is the 3rd Leupold I've ordered from him and I'm getting the for around $50 less than any web site lists them. Of course I'm not getting all the little extras like lens pens and scope covers with my scope but I am getting a NIB 1.75-6X33 Matte finished Duplex reticle VX-III for $330 delivered.

Now I just have to decide on rings and bases!

Well I finally got to shoot this rifle. We had a break in the weather on Saturday afternoon so I grabbed my Big Game portabale bench and my targets walked out in the pasture and fired off a few rounds @ 65 yards.

This is my first step into big bore rifles and I only fired off 9 rounds as the recoil was quite noticable. While recoil was tolerable it is definatly a step up from my .30-06. Accuracy was pretty darn good as I only used the rest on the bench instead of bringing any sand bags with me.

As I work up to the recoil of this rifle I'm sure my groups will improve. Here is my best 3 shot group:

I got my scope in can't wait to mount it and see what this rifle can do from a proper bench at the range.

+++++++.............IMO, not only will the 375 Ruger be around for a very long time, but I believe that other rifle manufacturers in the future will chamber for it as well. The Howa M1500 is a beginning example..............Is it June yet????? That`s when my M1500 comes in!!!

Big Squeeze, it is only the end of Feb.

I love my African 375 Hawkeye...this is the rifle Ruger should ahve made years ago...also am having PacNor rebarrel a 7mmRM into 264WinMag for me...26 inch barrel and countoured to the 7mm so it drop fits right in...
The 375 Hawkeye is what sold me....

That is a unique and cool idea.

Well as a matter of fact I also bought 243, 25-06, 270, 7mmRM, 300WM, 338WM, and the 375RM...then wanted a 264WM and heard a rumor that Ruger was making a limited run...turned out they made but are not now making a limited run...they made something like 250 264 Mark 2s...but the Hawkeye is what I want...so bought the extra 7mmRM and sent it off to PacNor...IIRC the Hawkeye ran me 625 and for 550 PacNor will put their best barrel on the gun to drop fit in...now this was less than what I found others wanting for their 264s....shipping of couse is extra...but no biggie in the overall scheme of things...oh, and PacNor wants a dummy cartridge made up so they will chamber the gun especially fot this round...I sent them a 140gr Nosler Partition on Winchester brass...nice details from PacNor....communicate well also...fine folks....more when I get the gun back in about another month and half I estimate....

I want to see pictures when you get that rifle back. The .264 Win never did turn my head but the people who use them sure seem to love them. I'm very interested in the Pac-Nor barrel as well. I almost used them for this build, the only problem was I had a free .375 barrel so I used it. I was a little worried about it as its a A&B barrel, but I think after shooting it and finding the right reload it will work out just fine.

I hawe used a Ruger #1 in 375 H&H for the last 10 years. Shooting a few hundred reloads every season.

Always get a lot of comments from those who only run 30 rouds of factory ammo trough their 308`s a year. Last season one guy at the shooting range told me that the recoil of a .375 rifle is so hard it isnt possible to shoot with it !

I reload the 300 gr NP`s to about 2450 f/s. The rifle is a little on the heavy side, with a Swarovski 2,5 - 10 mounted (30 mm tube), and the stock is straight and picks up the recoil good.
I always shoot some rounds from the bench during shooting season. Of Course i feel the recoil, but when you`re used to it, its ok.
Almost a little dissappointing to shoot my heawy barrelled 270 Win afterwards!
Compared to other hard hitting cartridges, I see the 375 recoil more as a hard push, compared to the kick some others deliver.

As I see it .375 delivers a hard punch, it leaves a good blood trace if the prey walks off.

Hawen`t tried the 375 Ruger. From what I understand it shoots a little harder than my H&H. If recoil is a consern, I would have tried some milder reloadings at first.

Good luck with your new .375 !

I've never shot the 375 H&H either so I can't compare recoil, but the recoil was more than my .35 Whelen which I would still say is the sharper of the two in the recoil department. With the PAST pad I probably could have shot at least 20 rounds in this one sitting. The problem was that I need to get a taller front sight post as point of impact is about 6" higher than point of aim. I didn't see any reason to continue shooting once I ran out of sight adjustments.

I'm having a hard time finding brass new or once fired for reloading as well. Every where I look they are sold out, so I didn't want to wait to shoot this rifle so I bought the factory loads. $53 a box will sure want to make you want to reload in a hurry.
