Have some interesting information for anyone carrying the .380ACP. Hornady, from what I'm hearing has changed the makeup somewhat of the 90 Grain XTP bullet. The most recent gelatin penetration test of this particular bullet has shown 15 plus inches of penetration and .500 expansion. As everyone knows the FBI minimum is 12 inches. This is obviously much better and expansion hasn't changed. Tests were also done with the typical 4 layer denim and results were very satisfactory with a hair more penetration and just slightly less expansion. Feeding with this particular round presented no problems.

Thats great intel BRM. Thanks for sharing it. Sounds like a great little SD round. Scotty

I have to chuckle about 'Big Rifle Man' posting about a .380!

Good to know, although I usually load cast bullets in my Colt Govt. .380. Maybe I'll try a box of (gasp!) Hornady factory loads in it.

Do yo happen to know what size bullet that was shot out of? Hopefully a short barreled .380.

Corey

I use it out of my PPKS with good results. I use Unique.

The Ruger was used for testing purposes. Pop is right on the money with unique. Tite group is also excellent with this cartridge and 90 grain bullet.

I load 90gr XTP bullets for my Ruger LCP. Good, accurate bullet. I use W231. I actually use those bullets in a few other calibers. Cabela's usually has them in stock for a desent price.
