Here are some 400gr Speer bullets I recovered from a wood block. They seem to have expanded really well and were still holding together. Scotty

Wow that must have been one beefy chunk of wood to capture all of those!

It was a pretty large piece of oak firewood. I ended up splitting it up and was able to grab most of them. Pretty tough bullet really. I know they aren't Woodleighs or something along those lines, but I wouldn't be too scared of using them on bigger animals either. Scotty

Yeah, I'd think so. It is still 400 grains of mass and its going to penetrate.

I sure wish Nosler would make a 400 gr PT for the 45-70.

I wouldn't hesitate to use these bullets on moose.

This is what the 400gr Speer can do to a medium sized Black Bear. That is the entrance hole that you can see in the middle of the exit hole. Muzzle velocity was 1,730 ft/sec, distance was 42yds.
