416 Rem Brass

Greg, are you able to use 8mm Rem Mag brass for the 416? Just wondering, I know the 416RM brass seems pretty scarce! Scotty

I believe I can but I wanted the right headstamp because I have a 8MM Rem Mag also. The guy that sold me the rifle also sold me 100 rounds of new brass. At $2@ That seems to be the going price for new 416 Rem brass. :roll: I'm sure since Winchester is making the safari special Model 70s again someone will start making brass.

I would think so. I can't imagine Winchester chambering their rifles and not having an idea that it is going to sell. I know if the brass was a little easier to get, it will be a no brainer when it comes time to get a truly big rifle! I think that M70 will be a tank! Scotty

I looked long and hard at the Mod. 70. I had that same rifle and caliber with a muzzle brake at one time and I traded it. I love the wood and finish but I also like stainless and porting at a cheaper price so I fell for the 700.

Greg, I totally get that too! I think I would like to have the Safari "weatherized" with something to keep the finish tough and have some kind of porting down to it. I don't really enjoy being thrashed by my rifles much. Scotty
