444 Marlin w/ 270 Deepcurl

My buddy called me last night and told me he saw approx 60 hogs in the grove across the street. I have been working 72 hour weeks and have not had a chance to put the 270 deep curl on paper yet.. BUT, I ran home at lunch today and ripped off a three shot group. They are certainly minute of pig, so I put one in the jugs to while I was at the bench.. Hopefully tonight I get to test one on some pork. The recovered bullet busted a hole in the sixth jug but remained in the 5th. It weighed just over 267 grains... That's serious weight retention.. 99% actually.

I think he will be updating this thread shortly.. I won't steal his thunder but the recovered bullet looked even better than the H20 tested one.. I am very impressed..

Fotis, I have not chrono'ed it.. it is 47 grains of RL-7.

We walked the grove last night.. It was very exciting.. Had a slew of piglets walk within 3 yards of us.. We sat and listened to them grunt as they walked thru the grove.. then we heard them run into a larger hog and scatter.. We progressed down the end of the isle until I saw just the rear of a hog go under a tree. I backed up a row and as she came out from under that tree I drilled her in the boiler room.. I yelled at my buddy who was still in the row ahead that she was coming his way.. He also drilled her right thru the boiler room with a 30-06. Both of those exited.. She turned to run from us and I caught her just ahead of the ham.. This bullet lodged under the hide on the far side about midway up.. We went back to where I fired the first shot and blood trailed her to the scene of the crash to verify all the shots where at the same hog.. This bullet weighed 263.4.. 97.5% weight retention..

That is a serious bullet for the job. Great performance, for sure. She seems to have required some real perforation to be convinced to exit this life.
