Would this bullet work loaded in a 45/70 Sharps Rifle with muzzle velocity around 2100 FPS?

Oh, most definitely. Here are the results in my Henry .45-70 at 100 yards. I will be using this load for deer this fall. Folks say the bullet performs very well on deer. I'm assuming that you've got a Sharps replica, not an original gun? A 2100 fps load is too hot for an antique rifle.

I don't have the load data right in front of me, but I can get it for you later if you want it. I know it was in the 2100 fps range, tho.

The rifle is a modern Pedersoli Sharps replica.
The goal is an elk hunt in the Fall.

I'll post the load tonight or tomorrow. I know I'm using IMR 4198 powder, Starline brass, and Winchester LR primers.

Are you loading for deer, or something else? If you need deeper penetration, the Speer 300 gr. Plinker JHP bullet is a bonded-core bullet that will hold together a bit better. So far, I've gotten a pretty decent load worked up for it, as well. It doesn't seem to be quite as accurate as the Nosler bullet, tho, but plenty good enough for most things. I'm talking < 1.5" for the Speer vs. 1" or less for the Nosler. In my gun, I had to push the Speer a bit faster than the Nosler to get the group size down.

IMR or H4198 look for speed at 2,100 start at 47 grains. However I have found AA 2015 to be more accurate but look speed at 2,100 start at 54 grains.

With either powder just work to chrono speed of 2100 and you be gtg.

Checking my QuickLoad program 52.5 of H335 should give me 2100 FPS and PSI of 27807 from a 32 inch barrel. I am looking at Accurate 2495 as well woth a Hornady 325 grain bullet. 52.2 grains. close to 2100 and good pressure.

Rusty, my load for the Nosler BT's is 54.0 gr IMR 4198, WLR primers, COL 2.550", 2125 fps.

The load for the Speer 300gr Plinkers is 55.6 gr IMR 4198, same primers and COL. I don't have a good velocity measurement on this load yet, but I'm sure it's north of 2100, probably pushing 2200.
